The front
Red brick, black shutters, and a two-story portico on four white columns, with a lower wing on each side. Even the shrubs along the front of the house made it onto the base.

Print 002 · Brick colonial
From the street it's a red-brick colonial with white columns. Walk around back and it's a different house: white siding, a screened porch, and a walkout basement set into a hill of boulders. Six phone photos on one evening walk were enough to model both sides.
01 · The photos
Six photos on an early October evening, all taken in about two minutes. Front, both corners, the garage end, and the back from the yard and from up the hill. A phone camera, nothing fancy. The photo guide shows the same angles.

02 · Side by side
A mini only feels right when the details are right. These are the ones that make this house recognizable, on the real thing and on the print.
Red brick, black shutters, and a two-story portico on four white columns, with a lower wing on each side. Even the shrubs along the front of the house made it onto the base.

Around back, the brick gives way to white siding and the yard drops a full story. The walkout level is dark stone with a wall of sliding doors onto the patio, and the bay window sits right above it. The base of the mini drops the same way.

The screened porch on one end, and the boulder walls that hold back the hill on either side of the patio. The boulders are printed one stone at a time, so they stand up off the lawn the way the real ones do.

03 · The print
Printed in color, one layer at a time: the green base and lawn first, then the brick, siding, shutters, and columns climbing together, and the shingled roofs and chimneys last. This is the real timelapse from our printer. Scroll to run it.
